GB Basketball confirmed the Great Britain Under-18 Women’s roster for the upcoming FIBA Under-18s EuroBasket. Which emerging stars can be a difference-maker?

The level of talent coming through the grassroots level of British basketball is truly exciting, and now they have the opportunity to prove their skills on one of the biggest stages in FIBA Youth EuroBasket’s Division B.

Great Britain will kick off their tournament on Friday, July 31 against Greece, live on FIBA’s official YouTube channel. But who are the excelling prospects fans should keep a keen eye out for?

Bo Guttormsdottir-Frost (Guard) – Oaklands Wolves

Bo Frost is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous players on this GB Under 18’s roster.

Playing out of the guard position, Frost is a player who can drive to the hoop with intent or pivot her style of play completely by draining shots from 3-point range.

In recent times, the 18-year-old has been one of several go-to scorers for the team, and has rarely let her teammates down.

During the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket, Frost averaged 10.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists, while shooting an impressive 45.5% from deep.

The electric guard had her most effective showing in GB’s 44-76 victory over Bulgaria during the Under-18s EuroBasket 2025, scoring 17 points in 24 minutes and sinking all four of her 3-point attempts.

Bo Frost is going to play a pivotal role in the Under-18s’ upcoming campaign.

Athena Thompson (Guard) – Blair Academy

Athena Thompson is quickly becoming Great Britain’s brightest prospect for the future. 

Throughout her youth career at international level, the sharpshooting guard has consistently dominated offensively, and opponents are yet to formulate an effective plan to limit her production.  

At the Under-18s EuroBasket 2025, Thompson led GB in both scoring (18.1 points per game) and steals (two per game).

Throughout the 2025-26 season for Blair Academy, Thompson proved why she is the next young Brit on course to hit the NCAA alongside Irene Obaovwoduo. She recorded 12.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and two steals per game.

Thompson posted on her Instagram profile that she has received an offer from Princeton University, but is yet to confirm if that is where she will be playing her basketball next season.

Despite Athena Thompson’s future still being up in the air, one thing is for sure: the young star is set to have an outstanding EuroBasket.

Tiarna Chambers-Desmond (Forward) – Nottingham Wildcats

A player heading straight to FIBA Youth EuroBasket from the Super League Basketball Women (SLBW) is Tiarna Chambers-Desmond.

While the 18-year-old has yet to leave a significant impact on the international stage, her much-improved performances for the Nottingham Wildcats this year could indicate a change is coming.

The Wildcats shocked the SLBW as they clinched a postseason berth, and Chambers-Desmond played an integral role during that impressive run.

Nottingham’s young star averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game last season. Chambers-Desmond still needs to discover a level of consistency in her performances, but she did have sporadic games of brilliance. 

During the Wildcats 70-81 defeat to the brilliant Essex Rebels on April 18, the forward recorded 20 points in 27 minutes and went 8-15 from the floor. 

Tiarna Chambers-Desmond still has a lot to prove on the international stage, but given her development during the 2025-26 SLBW season, there is every chance that the Under 18s EuroBasket 2026 could be the perfect opportunity to show her true potential.
