The Caledonia Gladiators underwent a massive overhaul this summer, with a major clear-out of last season’s roster followed by the arrival of seven new faces ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.

With fans preparing to see a much different-looking team take to the court, now is the perfect opportunity to get to know more about the guys and what each will hopefully bring.

Te’Jon Sawyer

The Richmond, California native was the first recruit of the offseason after spending six seasons with the Montana Grizzlies and arrived in East Kilbride on July 24th.

Standing at 6’8” tall, Sawyer combines length with a strong low-post game and impressive interior touch, while his increasingly reliable perimeter shot and positioning allow him to be instrumental on both ends of the floor.

Matt Zona

The 6’9″ American-Irish forward/centre spent four years with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before transferring to the Fordham Rams and subsequently joined Cheshire Phoenix last campaign.

Signing on August 5th, Zona brings physicality, rebounding, and the ability to stretch the floor, while his defensive intelligence enables him to contribute without relying solely on his athleticism.

Al-Amir Dawes

Amongst the early additions was the 6’2″ guard from Newark, New Jersey, who signed on August 11th.

After spells with the Clemson Tigers and Seton Hall Pirates, Dawes began his professional career with APOEL B.C. in Greece before stints at Saint-Chamond Basket in France and BK Armex Děčín in Czechia.

The 24-year-old’s combination of perimeter shooting, off-ball movement, defensive pressure, and playmaking provides versatility in the backcourt.

Braxton Williams

The 6’6″ forward from Thomasville, Alabama, played at Coastal Alabama South, the Valdosta State Blazers, and The Citadel Bulldogs before being announced as the fourth incoming player.

A proven scorer across JUCO and NCAA Division I, Braxton’s ability to shoot from deep, attack closeouts, rebound, and create for his teammates gives him all the required tools to become a vital asset.

Christian Keeling

Christian officially made his return to Scotland on August 19th after playing for what was then known as the Rocks in 2020/21, scoring 26 points in his professional debut.

The 28-year-old from Augusta, Georgia, has since enjoyed spells with B.C. Rustavi, Kataja Basket, Horsens Idræts, KK Pelister, Köping Stars, Spartak Pleven and Helsinki Seagulls.

The 6’3” shooting guard is a high-volume scorer capable from mid-range, attacking in transition and contributing heavily on the glass.

Jay Nagle III

The 6’8″ forward arrived on August 22nd following a collegiate career split between the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos and Idaho State Bengals, as well as professional stints with Tkibuli Orbi, Maroussi, Tigers Tübingen and Svendborg Rabbits.

He offers the profile of a modern stretch-four, combining perimeter shooting with passing, positional rebounding and disciplined defence.

Terry Roberts

The most recent signing is the 6’3″ point guard was confirmed as the final import on August 24th.

After spells with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Bradley Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, Roberts spent three seasons with the Long Island Nets alongside the Winnipeg Sea Bears and Ostioneros de Guaymas.

The 25-year-old’s high-tempo style is built around downhill scoring, playmaking, disruptive defence and the ability to turn rebounds into fast breaks.

Alongside returning Fraser Malcolm and Kyle Jimenez, who both won a 3×3 bronze medal at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Caledonia now enter 2026/27 with a noticeably different identity. While only time will reveal how this squad gels together, fans have seven new names to follow closely as the season gets underway.
