Newcastle Eagles have uncovered a gem in Jada Guinn.

In fresh and exciting era of Super League Basketball Women, the league has already showcased the deep array of talent that the British game currently possesses – the Newcastle Eagles are no exception to that rule.

With player-coach Chloe Gaynor thriving at the helm, the franchise will be optimistic that their roster is more than capable to be successful in the post-season.

Nevertheless, there is one explosive player in particular at Gaynor’s disposal that has captured the hearts and imagination of Newcastle’s passionate fanbase: the brilliant Jada Guinn.

Guinn can do it all

After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Jada Guinn has took Super League Basketball Women by storm – scoring 21.2 points per game while shooting an efficient 57% from the floor.

In a day and age of bland high volume three-point shooting, Newcastle Eagles’ gifted recruit has demonstrated a refreshing ability to devastate the opposition from mid-range areas.

However, the 24 year-old is more than just an expert sharpshooter, her ability to distribute the ball and create opportunities for her teammates cannot be overlooked – totalling 5.4 assists per game.

Guinn has a fearless personality and never appears to waiver in her relentless approach, no matter which opposition is lined up on the other side of the court.

There has never been a better example of the guard’s ability to lead by example as she was one of the few Newcastle players to perform in their resounding defeat to the high-flying Oaklands Wolves – losing the game 89-59, despite Guinn sinking 25 points.

March Madness

Newcastle Eagles’ Jada Guinn was in scintillating form during the month of March, which has resulted in the fan-favourite being nominated for the Player of the Month award.

The Tennessee graduate averaged 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game in a month that seen the Eagles chalk up an impressive four victories.

However, one performance in particular towers above the rest during a monster march for the star – Newcastle’s 72-67 triumph over the Essex Rebels.

Guinn stuffed every column on the stat sheet in spectacular fashion – tallying 25 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

Her breath-taking performances have ignited Newcastle’s championship ambitions this year as they sit third in the regular season standings with an admirable record of 11 wins after 15 games.

Newcastle’s number 24 has been nothing short of magnificent after her brave journey across the globe to chase down her dream of being a professional basketball player.

Jada Guinn has exhibited all of the traits required to be one of the greatest players to ever grace these shores, but can continue her monumental rise and lead the Newcastle Eagles to playoff glory?
