The 2025 WNBA draft class could be the deepest pool of talent the league has seen in a decade – which teams could potentially transform their franchise with the correct selections?

Washington Mystics

The Mystics have a tunnel-focused vision for the 2025 campaign. Owning three of the first six picks in the WNBA draft, Washington is looking to build for the future.

It is an exciting time to be a fan of the franchise as they have an opportunity to create a roster stacked with some of the most exciting talent in the world.

Tankathon.com currently projects Washington to select Notre Dame’s shooting guard Sonia Citron, USC’s forward Kiki Iriafen, and Kentucky’s point guard Georgia Amoore.

Citron can contribute in every aspect of the game for the franchise, averaging 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. Scoring a season-high 25 points on two occasions this year, the shooting guard has the potential to become a devastating talent in the WNBA.

Kiki Iriafen is a talent who does not always get the plaudits she deserves as lives in the gigantic shadow of the exceptional talent JuJu Watkins.

Nevertheless, Iriafen has showcased that she can be the number one option for a franchise – sinking 36 points in Watkins’ absence in the match-up against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Finally, Georgia Amoore is the most explosive guard coming out of this draft class and despite her smaller size of 5 feet, 6 inches – Amoore’s on-ball talent makes her an essential selection for Washington. The awesome Australian averages 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game.

With a mix of size, defensive tenacity, and offensive prowess – the Mystics have manufactured a situation where they could create a dangerous dynasty and take the league hostage for the foreseeable future.

Dallas Wings

Dallas won the lottery, literally and metaphorically, when they were awarded the number one pick for the 2025 WNBA draft. Unless the Wings’ general manager Curt Miller has a sinister plot to curse the franchise for eternity, it is pretty obvious which selection they will make – Paige Bueckers.

Bueckers has the potential to elevate a franchise’s fortunes and send them on a thrilling upward trajectory.

The UConn graduate led her team to the NCAA Tournament title in her senior year – averaging 20 points while shooting 53.9% from the floor during the competition.

Nevertheless, it was her performance against Oklahoma in the Regional 4 in Spokane that snatched the headlines. Bueckers blew up for 40 points and in 35 minutes as, she sent the opposition into a meltdown as they were unable to contain the fire that the point guard had lit.

Even against tougher opposition in the Regional 4 against USC, the Huskies superstar steamrollered her opponents as she chalked up 31 points, 6 assists and 4 steals – showing potential suitors that she is a Swiss Army knife of a player.

The Dallas Wings have never had a greater opportunity to create a roster around a player who is deemed to be the next ‘generational talent’ to enter the WNBA.

With the No. 12 and No. 14 overall pick waiting in the shadows, Dallas must recruit a physical forward who can provide efficient scoring and an edge in the rebounding column.

If available, Curt Miller must prioritize the acquisition of powerful LSU forward Aneesah Morrow to work in tandem with Bueckers.

Morrow was dominant throughout the 2024/25 campaign – averaging 18.7 points, a mammoth 13.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. The LSU graduate provides stability on both sides of the court that the Wings will desperately crave..

With the 2025 WNBA draft commencing on April 14, fans will be impatiently waiting to observe what aspirations for the future their franchises have.
