Tyrese Maxey drops 43-points in Philadelphia 76ers’ 104-118 victory over LA Lakers.

Despite the ongoing absence of franchise player, Joel Embiid, Maxey leads the Sixers to a third consecutive win as Nick Nurses’ side continue to build momentum.

After winning the Most Improved Player award last year, many fans believed Maxey would elevate his game to unfound levels and thrive as Philadelphia’s main option if Embiid continued to be plagued by injuries.

However, the point-guard faced a turbulent start to the season – shooting a highly inefficient 41% through the first two months of the season.

The Kentucky graduate struggled to handle the pressure of carrying a team that was expected to challenge at the summit of the Eastern Conference.

Forcing contested shots and failing miserably to dictate proceedings with his playmaking, it seemed like Tyrese was not the future of the franchise like many predicted.

Nevertheless, the 24 year-old refused to quit on the season like much of the fanbase had.

Maxey has catapulted his performances to new height at the turn of the year – scoring 25+ points in 11 consecutive games for the first time in his career.

The star has been more efficient with his scoring as he has shot above 50% from the floor in his last five appearances.

It is not only his shooting that has been more effective in recent games, his playmaking has also been much improved.

Even without Joel Embiid on the floor – Maxey has averaged 6.9 assists per game.

Philadelphia’s point guard will now be looking to ignite the form of the Sixers as they look to climb the Eastern Conference standings.

The former All-Star is now averaging 27.1 points per game – the sixth highest in the league.

Statistics like this are those of a franchise player and can be a catalyst as the side stay in the hunt for a Play-In Tournament spot.

Last nights dominant showing against the Lakers showcased that Tyrese Maxey is now thriving in his enhanced role.
